Dobbs County, NC - Court Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Grace Williamson Turner Transcribed and posted by Lori Price Cobb (jhcobb@iquest.net) North Carolina New Bern District At a Court of Sessions of the Peace, Oyer & Teminer, & General Goal Delivery, begun & held at New Bern for the District of New Bern on the twenty ninth Day of March, in the first year of the Independance of said State, and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy seven, Before the Hororable James Davis Esquire one of the Judges & Justices of said Court, apointed in Virtue of an Ordinance of the State of North Carolina afor____ by commission from his Excellency Richard Caswell Esquire, Governor, Captain General & Commander in Chief of the State aforesaid, direct to Abner Nash Esquire and the said James Davis, or either of them, under the Seal of the State, to hear and determine all offences against the Peace and good Government thereof, which may have been committed within the District aforesaid. The Jurors for the State aforesaid upon their Oath present that William Williams otherwise called William Williams of Trent late of the Parish of St. Patrick in the County of Dobbs _________ in the District of New Bern in the State of North Carolina Planter, with Force and Arms at the Parish aforesaid, in the County aforesaid, in and upon one Robert White in the Peace if God and of the State, then and there being, did make an Assault, and him the said Robert White, then and beat, wond and ill treat, so that his life was greatly dispaired of, and other wrongs to the said Robert White then & there did to the great Damage of the said Robert White, against the Peace and Dignity of the State.
