Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Richard Bass, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 121 – 640 acres State of North Carolina No. 367 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Richard Bass have given and granted and by their presents do hereby give and grant unto the said Richard Bass a tract of land containing six hundred & forty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on both sides of the Marek branch begining at a pine Basses corner and runs with his line No 61 Et 70 pole to apine No 37 Et 84 poles to a red oak south 45 Et 50 pole to a white oake So 10 Wt 29 pole to a hickory So 70 Et 88 pole to apine So 50 Et 94 pole to a hickory So 80 Wt 8 pole to apine So 16 Et 54 poles to a black jack No 86 Et 160 poles to a pine his own Reaves corner then So 192 poles to a pine No 80 Wt along Rielys line 225 poles to a pine his corner then with his other line So 10 Wt 80 pole to a pine Wt 80 poles to a pine to the beginning as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenences of the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Richard Bass his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Richard Bass shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
