Dobbs County, NC - Margeritt Cogdell to John Bridgers, 1780 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 58 To all Christian people to whome these Presents Writing shall come I Margeritt Cogdell of the State of N Carolina and County of Dobbs send greeting Know ye that I, the said Margeritt Cogdell for divers and good causes and valuable considerations me hereunto moving have given and granted and by these Presents do give grant & Confirm unto John Bridgers and unto his wife Abigail of the State and County afores'd and to their heirs Exc's Admr's and assigns forever one Negro Boy named Abraham to have and to hold the said negro boy from me the said Margeritt Cogdell my heirs Ex's and Admr's unto him the said John Bridgers & Wife & their heirs Ex's Admr's and assigns forever from henceforth to his and their own proper use and uses thereof and there with to do Order and dispose at his and their pleasures as of their own proper good & Chattels free and peaceably and quietly without any manner of lite trouble or denial of me the said Margeritt Cogdell or any other person or persons whatsoever and do hereby put the said Bridgers in full and peacable possession by virtue hereof in Witness whereof I the said Margeritt Cogdell have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 11th July 1772 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Margeritt Cogdell {Seal} Fran's Cogdell Jas.
