Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to William Durdeno, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 184 – 640 acres State of North Carolina no. 275 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting, know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted & paid unto our Treasury by William Durdeno have given and granted and by these presents do hereby give & grant unto the said William Durdeno a tract of land containing six hundred and forty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the great swamp beginning on said Swamp at a black gum on John Daniels line and running along said line Wt 200 pole to the corner a red Oak then along his other lines No 82 poles to a white Oak on said line thence Wt 176 pole to pine thence So 460 pole to the said Swamp thence down the various courses of said Swamp to the first station as by the Plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereraments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said William Durdeno his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us said sum of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said William Durdeno shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire our Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin, Gov ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
