Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to John Grant, 1802 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 124 – 80 acres State of North Carolina no. 417 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by John Grant have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said John Grant a tract of land containing Eighty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the North side of Neuse River and West side of the Reedy Branch beginning at a center of black gum a poplar and water oak near the end of an Island in the Savanah and runs with a contract line So 25 Wt 42 pole to pine in Michael Herrings line then with his line Wt 120 pole to a pine Joel Herrings Corner thence with his line No 35 Et 128 pole to a red oak his corner thence No 128 pole to a stake thence to the beginning as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods water mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said John Grant his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sum of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said John Grant shall cause this grant to be registered at the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esq our Gov Capt Gen & Commander in Chief at Fairfield the day of in the seventh year of our Independence & in the year of our Lord 1802 Alex Martin Gov ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
