Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Jacob Herring, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 156 – 110 acres State of North Carolina No. 370 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Jacob Herring have given and granted and by their presents do hereby give and grant unto the said Jacob Herring a tract of land containing one hundred and ten acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the North side of Neuse River on the upper Boag Swamp beginning at a water oak standing between the mouth of the great marsh and the Gum Swamp being Charles Hinds second corner and runs with his line north 60 Wt 144 poles to a water oak on said line near Dixons corner thence north said Dixons line north fifty five Et 85 poles to an oak his corner thence north his other line No 45 Et 80 poles to a pine his own corner thence with his line So 10 Wt 66 poles to a gum & his other corner thence with his given line So 42 Et 260 poles to a stake in said line thence to the beginning as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenences of the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Jacob Herring his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Jacob Herring shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Govr ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
