Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Jacob Herring, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 151 – 100 acres State of North Carolina No. 422 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Jacob Herring have given and granted and by their presents do hereby give and grant unto the said Jacob Herring a tract of land containing one hundred acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the North side of Neuse River and South side of the Savannah Beginning at a red oak on the side of the reedy branch being his own second corner of a former survey and runs with his own line No 85 Wt 220 poles to a white oak his beginning corner thence with his line of another survey No 45 Wt 85 poles to a pine in said line his corner of his new survey thence with his line of said survey No 90 poles to a stake in the Savannah thence to the beginning as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenences of the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Jacob Herring his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Jacob Herring shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield (Fairfield marked out) the blank day of blank in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
