Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Michael Herring, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 112 – 90 acres State of North Carolina No. 332 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Michael Herring have given and granted and by their presents do hereby give and grant unto the said Michael Herring a tract of land containing ninety acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the north side of Neuse River begining at a center of a black gum poplar and water oak near the end of an island in the Savanah and runs with a contract line So 25 Wt 42 poles to a pine in his own line thence with his own line Et 200 pole to a pine his corner thence with another line South 59 Et 50 poles to a pine his corner in Samuel Herrings line thence with said line No 10 Et 46 pole to a red oak Elisha Uzzells corner thence with his line No. 37 Wt 160 poles to a stake in the Savanah thence South 105 to a stake thence to begining as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenences of the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Michael Herring his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Michael Herring shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
