Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00022.html#0005225 April 18, 2022, 1:51 pm Written: 1774 Transcribed by Sloan Mason slomas7@comcast.net Register of Deeds Duplin County, NC Bk.5, p. 32-33 Joshua HERRING to Jacob LANGSTON, both of Dobbs Co., NC -160 acres in Duplin Co., NC 31 Dec 1774 North Carolina Dobbs County To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting, Know Ye that I, Joshua HERRING of the province and County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen pounds proclamation money to me in hand paid by Jacob LANGSTON of the County and province aforesaid at and before the unsealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge that I am therewith fully satisfied contented and paid Have bargained sold and by these presents do firmly and fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm assign and sell and unto him the said Jacob LONGMONT his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever by Virtue at a Power of Attorney Granted from Phillip STONE to the said Joshua HERRING and dated the Second day of October 1772, a certain piece tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in Duplin County and province aforesaid and on a branch of the North East swamp for One hundred and Sixty Acres of land more or less at Being part of a tract of land of Four Hundred Acres granted to the said Phillip STONE By Patent dated the 26th day of October 1767 and part of the same land as James JONES had part of lying on the Southwest side of Cabbin Branch and Bounded with the patent lines and Cabbin Branch to Have and to Hold the said Bargained lands and premises with all and Singular the Improvements profits privileges Conveyances advantages benefits and all the appurtenances thereunto or thereunto belonging unto him the said Jacob LANGSTON his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and Behoof and I the said Joshua HERRING doth for myself my heirs, Executors administrators and assigns covenant grant and agree to and with the said Jacob LANGSTON his heirs executors administrators and assigns to Warrant and Defend the said land and premises unto him the Said Jacob LANGSTON his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever free and clear of all encumbrances of what mortgage? or kind —— the Quit Rents due and becomes due to his majesty his heirs or success only Excepted in as fair and ample manner to all intents and purposes as the must? learned in the law can devise hereby counting to Warrant and defend the said land and premises unto him the said Jacob LANGSTON his heirs Executors administrators assigns forever against he lawful claim or claims of any reason or persons Whatsoever.
