Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to James Pate, 1784 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 267 – 305 acres State of North Carolina No. 447 To all to whome these presents Shall come greeting Know ye that we for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred Acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by James Pate have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the Said James Pate a tract of Land Containing three hundred and five acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the north side of Neuse river and both sides of Staney Creek Beginning at a post Oak in Elias Pates line and runs with his line So. 53 Et. 144 poles to a pine then with a contract line So. 2 Wt. 158 pole to a red Oak in John Handleys line then across Staney Creek and with his line So. 73 Wt. 144 pole to a red Oak James Davises corner thence with a contract line So. 50 St. 120 poles to a pine in Levin Vincents line then with his line No. 43 Wt. 80 pole to a live Oak in said line thence to the beginning as by the Plat hereunto annexed & doth appear together with all woods waters Mines Minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said Land belonging or appertaining to hold to the sd. James Pate his Heirs & assigns forever yielding and paying to us such Sum of Money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may direct Provided always that the said James Pate Shall cause this grant to be registered in the registers office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be Void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great Seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Richard Caswell esquire our Governor Captain General & Commander in Chief at Hillsboro the 13th day of October in the Eight year of our Indepencence & in the year of our Lord 1783 Alex Martin Gov October Court 1784 ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
