Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Pasco Peele, 1783 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1 – 640 acres State of North Carolina No. 271 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Pasco Peele have given and granted and by their presents do hereby give and grant unto the said Pasco Peele a tract of land containing six hundred and forty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the east side of Basses Swamp begining at a huckleberry tree in William Newsoms line then along said line Et 72 pole to a pine the corner then along the other line No 232 pole to the other corner apine then along his other line Et 160 poles to a red oak in the said line then So 140 poles to apine thence Et 100 poles to a red oak then South five degrees Et 114 poles to apine being agreed line by the said Peele and John King thence along one other agreed line by said Peele & King south seventeen Et 90 pole to apine John Kings corner thence along said Kings line Et 87 pole to apine in or near said line thence So 156 pole to a stake thence Wt 156 pole to a live oak in said Basses swamp then down the various courses of said swamp to the first station as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenences of the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Pasco Peele his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Pasco Peele shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Gov 20th Nov 1783 ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
