Dobbs County, NC - Deeds - William Roach to Bryan Whitfield, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pgs 77-78 This Indenture made the 23rd day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty between William Roach of the County of Wayne and State of N. Carolina & Bryan Whitfield of the County of Dobbs and State aforesaid Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five thousand pounds current money of the sd. State to the said William Roach in hand paid by the said Bryan Whitfield at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and therefour doth release acquit and discharge the said Bryan Whitfield his heirs exer's admr's by thse presents he the said William Roach hath granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these doth grant bargain set alien and confirm unto the said Bryan Whitfield and his heirs a certain piece or parcell & land situate lying and being in the County of Wayne and State aforesaid bounded as followith begining at a pine on the side of a meadow and runs No. 179 pole to a pine thence Et. 179 pole to apine thence So. 179 pole to a pine in Uzzells mill branch thence to the first station it being the land contained in a patent granted to William Smith bearing date the 23rd day of May 1757 for two hundred acres lying on the north side Neuse river between Bear Creek and Walnut Creek on Uzzell mill branch and all houses buildings orchards ways waters water courses profits commodities hereditaments and appurtenances unto the same belonging or in anywise appertaining and also all the estate right will entrust use property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said William Roach in and to the premises and all deed or writings concerning the same to have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed and all and singular other the premises hereby bargained and sold and part and parcell thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Bryan Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Bryan Whitfield and of his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Roach for himself his heirs Exr's & admr's doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said Bryan Whitfield his heirs and assigns by these presents that the said William Roach now at the time of sealing and delivering of these presents is seized of a good size perfect and feasable estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in the premises hereby bargained and sold by virtue of a deed from Lewis Graddy bearing date the 4th of October 1774 and that he hath good power and lawful and absolute authority to grant and convey the same to the said Bryan Whitfield in manner & form aforesaid and that the said premises now & forever hearafter shall remain & be free & clear of and from all former gifts grants bargains sales dower right and title of dower judgements executions and all encumbrances whatsoever made done committed or suffered by the said William Roach any other person whatsoever and that the sd.
