Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Nimrod Stradley, 1783 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 201 – 217 acres State of North Carolina No. 296 To all to whome these presents Shall come greeting Know ye that we for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred Acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Nimrod Stradley have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the Said Nimrod Stradley a tract of Land Containing two hundred and Seventeen acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the north side of Norhunta and South side of Great Contentnea Creek and on both sides of Iveys branch Beginning at a Small black Jack in Samuel Bartlets line & his 2nd Corner of a nother survey runing then with his line No. 104 pole to a post Oak his corner then with a Contract line between him and said Bartlet No. 25 Et. 78 poles to a pine his corner in Sampson Stantons line the with sd. Line Wt. 88 pole a cross Iveys branch to a gum on the branch then down the Branch with the meanders No. 114 poles to a poplar in a prong of said branch on Thomas Edmundsons line then with his line and the meanders of the prong of the branch Wt. 110 poles to a pine on Isaac Woodard line then with his line So. 190 pole to a Stake on sd. Line then to the beginning as by the Plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters Mines Minerals hereditaments and appurtenances unto the said Land belonging or appertaining to hold to the sd. Nimrod Stradley his Heirs & assigns forever yielding and paying to us such Sum of Money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may direct Provided always that the said Nimrod Stradley Shall cause this grant to be registered in the registers office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be Void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great Seal to be hereunto affixed & Witness Alexander Martin esq.
