Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to John Tilton, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 109 – 600 acres State of North Carolina No. 384 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted & paid into our Treasury by John Tilton have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said John Tilton a tract of land containing Six hundred acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on Buck Swamp. Beginning at a white Oak in John Howell's line and runs with the same So 58 Et 142 poles to hicory St 214 poles to a pine in his own line then with the same No56 Wt 160 poles to a pine his corner then with his other line So 30. Wt 296 poles to a red Oak his corner then his other line So 60. Et 124 poles to a pine on Ballards line then with his So 40 Wt 98 poles to a pine Hooks corner then Wt 110 poles to a pine then with Hooks line No 10 degrees Wt 170 poles to a pine then to the beginning as by the Plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals heretamints and appurtinances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said John Tilton his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said John Tilton shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in witness whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire our Governor Capt General & Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in this seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Govr ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
