Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Elisha Uzzell, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 163 – 220 acres State of North Carolina No. 316 To all to in whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Elisha Uzzell have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Elisha Uzzell a tract of land containing two hundred and twenty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the east side Walnut Creek beginning at a red oak near Ephraim Cottons corner and runs with line No 10 Et 360 poles to a pine Roaches corner near a pond then north his Et 80 pole to a black jack then So 10 W with his other line 200 pole to a pine then with Thomas Uzzells line So 5 Et 210 poles to a red oak in Ephraim Cottons line then with the same to the beginning as in the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Elisha Uzzell his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Elisha Uzzell shall cause this grant to be registered at the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esquire our Governor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Govr ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
