Dobbs County, NC – Deeds – State to Wilson Watkins, 1782 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wayne County Deed Book 1, pg 134 – 260 acres State of North Carolina No. 326 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of this sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Wilson Watkins have given and granted and by their presents do give and grant unto the said Wilson Watkins a tract of land containing two hundred and sixty acres lying and being in our County of Dobbs on the south side of Nahunta beginning at a pine and black jack and runs No 40 poles to a pine in Edgertons line thence with his line No 54 Et 40 poles to a pine his corner thence with his other line No 10 Et 30 poles to a white oak on said line William Alfords corner of his new survey thence with his own line No 87 Et 300 to a white oak his corner in Peter Powells line thence with his line So 160 poles to stake thence to the beginning as by the plot hereunto annexed doth appear together with all waters woods mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Wilson Watkins his heirs and assigns forever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our General Assembly from time to time may direct provided always that the said Wilson Watkins shall cause this grant to be registered at the Registers Office of our said County of Dobbs within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect Witness Alexander Martin Esq our Govr Capt Genrl & Commander in Chief at Fairfield the 29th day of October in the seventh year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord 1782 Alex Martin Govr ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
