Dobbs County, NC - 2nd 1779 Election Certification ~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina } Dobbs County } I Benjamin Caswell Sheriff of said County do hereby certify that in pursuance of the annexed Writ to me directed I did summon the Freeholders and Freemen of the said County to meet at the Court house thereof on the sixth and seventh days of Sept'r instant for the purpose in the said Writ required. And they did then and there by a great majority elect William Caswell and Abraham Shepard Esquires to represent the said County in the Commons House of Assembly in the room and stead of Thomas Gray and Jesse Cobb Esquires whose seats were vacated owing (as it was suggested) to an undue election on the tenth and eleventh days of March last.
