LaGrange Woman Has Document Signed by George III (Special to the Observer) LaGrange, July 1 --- Mrs. Simeon Wooten while looking over the effects of her late husband, a prominent citizen who died recently, discovered an ancient deed granted by King George III of England on February 22, 1764. The document was a grant for 200 acres of land in Dobbs County, afterwards partitioned into Lenoir, Wayne, Greene and other counties, to Philip Stone. It bears the signatures of Arthur Dobbs, "Captain-General and Governor-in-Chief;" R. D. Caswell and Thomas Rutherford, secretary to the Governor. The seal of the Crown is stamped on beeswax. All the writing and printing is clearly legible. The old instrument is highly valued.
