He was in the battle of Eutaw Springs. He married just after the Revolution, Mrs. Williams, who at that time had a very young son named William. Pension was allowed on his application executed April 6, 1835 at which time he was a resident of Screven County, GA. He died November 11, 1836 in said county. In 1846 his wife was dead and the only children living were Jacob B. Best who was then about sixty three years of age.
