His Excellency
Josiah Martin, Esq; 
His Majesty's Captain-General, and Governor in Chief, in and over the said 
Province,
To the Surveyor-General, Greeting;

You are forthwith to admeasure and lay out, or cause to be admeasured and laid 
out, unto Charles Cogdell a Plantation, containing Four Hundred Acres of Land, 
in the County of Dobbs So. side of Neuse River on a branch of falling Creek 
Joining the Lines of John Peters & Wm Rhodes.

Observing his Majesty's Instructions for running out Lands; Two just and fair 
Plans whereof, with a proper Certificate annexed to each, you are to return 
into the Secretary's Office, within Twelve Months from the Date hereof: And if 
the Warrantee shall not within Eighteen Months from the Date hereof, take out 
a Patant for the said Land, this Warrant, and all Proceedings thereon, shall 
be void and of no Force; and the said Land shall be deemed vacant and free to 
be taken up by any other Person.

Given at Newbern under my Hand, the 11 Day of Janry Annoque Domini 1773

Surveyed for Charles Cogdell a plantation Containing Four Hundred & Fifty 
Acres of Land in Dobbs County on the So. Side of Neuse River Begining at a 
Pine John Peter's Corner & runs with his line S. 6 E. 140 poles to a Red Oak 
then N. 67 W. 140 poles then N. 30 W. 200 poles then N. 60 E. 238 poles then 
S. 49 E. 306 poles then to the Beg'n.
