ALEXANDER H. GRADY’S GUARDIANSHIP AND ESTATE

NOTE:  The handwriting in this document is extremely difficult to read

Wm. Kornegay to Acct against his ward Alex H. Grady for Monies in funds & 
services rendered in renting his lands & selling corn & attending to land & At 
April Court 1826 I was appointed Guardian to – first name unreadable but not 
Alex and the initial is not an H – P. Grady & made party in a suit against Jason 
Smith & sd Term 1826 I attended two days for which I charge my Ward - 2.00
To attendance in said suit July Court 3 days - 3.00
At July Court 1826 the said suit was true &judgment in my favor for which Jason 
Smith appealed to the Supr court and at the Supr Court in Sept 1826 I employed 
Mr. Henry (in an earlier document it said Holms) as counsel in the suit  for 
which I gave him $20
To attendance on Sd suit July Court  3 days - 3.00
To Do  at March Term 1827 2 Do – 2.00
To Do  at Sept Term  Do  3 Do – 3.00
To Do at March 1828  2 Do – 2.00
To Do at Sept Do  2 Do – 2.00
To Do at March  1829 3 Do – 3.00
To Do at Sept  Do 3 Do – 3.00
To Do at March 1830  2 Do – 2.00

At which Court the cause was back & Smith awarded judgment for six pounds and 
cost  - I appealed to the Supreme Court and sent $20 enclosed in a letter to Sys 
??? (torn) & Badger as to be appear of ten pounds Certificates -  20.00
In Said Court the judgment of the Court below was affirmed & the cost paid as it 
will appear of Sherff’s account – 17.45
The Superior County Court that I paid will appear by Clerks (torn)     92.4
To attendance on the lands of my ward – next word not readable – in 1827 – 1.00
To DO in fall of 1827 to collect rents 2 days
To One day of Negro Axum & cost & attending lands -  2.00 (total for this and 
the above entry)
To  Attendance 10th Jan of 1828 to rent out lands 1 day – 1.00
To Attendance the fall of DO to attend lands of myself & Negro 1 day – 2.00
To Attendance 25th of Jan of 1829 to rent out lands 1 day – 1.00
To Do One day in Feb of Do renting lands & Do selling corn – 2.00
To – next two words not readable – 1.20
For taxes paid as for rents – 10.88
I do hereby Certify the above is a statement of the monies that I expended in 
behalf of my ward & I was in refunded as of this date this 22nd August 1831
