Division of Lands, Estate of David SLOAN, Dec’d. To the worshipful the Justices of the Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions of Duplin County, July Term A.D. 1866. We the undersigned Commissioners appointed at July Term 1863, to divide & make partition between & among Mary C. DICKSON, Levi MOORE & wife, Margaret S. MOORE, Robert D. SLOAN’S children, Daniel T. MACMILLAN & wife Caroline A. MACMILLAN, George J. MACMILLAN & wife Elizabeth J. MACMILLAN & Martha J. SLOAN heirs & tenants in common of the lands descended to them from their father David SLOAN, Dec’d whereupon after being duly sworn by Hugh G. MAXWELL an Acting Justice of the Peace to do equal justice between the claimants, we have made & do here by make the following appropriations to wit: that is to say Lot no.#1 is appropriated and assigned to Daniel T. MACMILLAN & wife Caroline A. MACMILLAN in severalty bounded as follows: Beginning at a Black Gum on the run of Beaver Dam, WILSON’S corner & runs thence N 2 E 156 poles to a Pine thence N 45 E poles to a stake in place of a Poplar thence N 32 W 268 poles to a Stake, QUINN’S corner, thence N 38 E 80 poles to a stake on the East side of the Main Road thence S 32 E 182 poles to a stake thence N 55 E 2 poles to a stake on the West side of the road, thence with the road S 32 E 83 poles to the turn thence S 20 E 93 poles to a Stake on the West side of the road, thence S 9 W 132 poles to a Swamp Dogwood on the run of Beaver Dam, thence up said run as it meanders to the first station containing two hundred & ninety one 1/4 acres more or less. Also one other tract beginning at a stake at the Polly bottom on the Main Road, Mary C. DICKINSON’S corner & runs thence with the road N 33 W 187 poles to a stake near the road in place of a dead oak thence S 18 W 72 poles to a stake thence S 10 W 30 poles to a stake thence to the beginning containing thirty six acres more or less valued at $2250. Lot No. #2: is appropriated & assigned to George J. MACMILLAN & wife Elizabeth J. MACMILLAN in severalty Bounded as follows: Beginning at a Swamp Dogwood on the run of Beaver Dam the last corner of Lot no.#1 & runs thence N 9 E 132 poles to a stake on the edge of the road, thence N 21 W 93 poles thence N 32 poles to a stake in the old line thence said line N 55 E 114 poles to a stake on the run of Maxwell Swamp, thence down said run as it meanders about 195 poles to an ash, R. B. CARR’S corner thence N 67 E 34 poles to a stake in place of a red oak thence E 90 poles to a pine in a branch therein S 90 poles to a Water oak, ROGER’S corner thence W 56 poles to the run of MAXWELL thence up said run as it meanders to the Bridge thence with the road S 30 W 16 poles thence S 60 W 38 poles to a stake on the S side of the road. Thence S 14 W 140 poles to a stake on the run of Beaver dam, thence up said run to the beginning containing three hundred acres more or less - also one other tract knows as the DICKSON Land beginning at a Red Oak in Pine Branch just below the ford a corner of RODGER’S land, thence N 108 pole stop a stake thence E 88 poles to a pine, thence S 102 poles to a stake thence to the beginning containing fifty eight 1/4 acres more or less. Also one other tract bounded as follows, beginning at a stake at the Poley Bottom thence S 10 poles W 154 poles to a stake on the back line thence said line W 12 poles to a stake thence N 16 E 8 poles to a pine thence N 80 W 106 poles to a stake in place of Maple 34 W 40 poles to a stake in a branch, thence N 60 E 3 poles to a pine thence N 13 W 12 poles to a pine Stump, thence N 30 E 88 poles to a stake, thence N 80 W 20 poles to a stake thence N 10 E 38 poles to a stake thence to the beginning one hundred & thirty one acres more or less. The three tracts valued $2250. Lot No. #3- is appropriated & assigned to Martha A. SLOAN in severalty, bounded as follows: beginning at a stake at Maxwell Bridge then S 30 W 16 poles thence S 60 W 38 poles to a stake thence S 14 W 144 poles to a stake on the run of Beaverdam a little below the road, thence down the main run of Beaver Dam as it meanders to its mouth at the run of Maxwell thence up the run of Maxwell to the beginning containing two hundred & eighty three 1/4 acres more or less-also one other tract, beginning at a Stake at Poley Bottom, Mary C. DICKSON’S corner, thence S 35 E with the road 90 poles to the turn thence with said road S 50 E 96 poles to the back line thence S 85 W 5 poles to a pine thence S 10 W 20 poles to a Pine & Hickory, thence W 150 poles to a stake thence N 10 E 154 poles to the beginning containing seventy nice acres more or less, the two tracts valued at $2250. We find that Mary C. DICKSON has had an advancement of 333 acres which the intestate valued at $2000 & we have assigned her seventeen 1/2 acres joining her land to her an equal share known as the CHAMBERS tract, bounded as follows beginning at a stake near the run of Beaver dam & runs thence S 17 E 124 poles to a pine thence N 3 E 50 poles to a Gum thence N 10 E 60 poles to a stake at the run of Beaverdam thence up said run at the beginning. WE further find that Levi MOORE & wife have had an advance of 133 acres valued by the intestate at $600 & we have appropriated & assigned to them the following tracts of land to make him an equal share the first tract bounded as follows: beginning at the head of a small drain Levi MOORE’S corner thence down said drain N 21 E to a Gum on the run of Island Creek, thence down said run to an Ash, Timothy BONEY’S corner thence S 21 W 82 poles to a pine then S 62 poles to a stake thence W 20 poles to a cluster of Pines then S 120 poles to a Pine thence W 94 poles to a pine, MOORE’S corner thence N 21 E to the beginning, containing 158 Acres, more or less. Also one other tract known as the CUMMINS land, beginning at an Elm on the run of Beaver Dam, Mrs. DICKSON’S corner & runs thence as her line S 120 poles to a stake then S 25 E 17 poles to a stake then S 4 E 55 poles to a stake, R. D. SLOAN’S corner then his line N 25 E 200 poles to the run of Beaver Dam, thence up the run to the beginning containing 62 1/2 Acres more or less. Also one other tract beginning at a stake R. D. SLOAN’S corner thence S 2 E 200 poles to a pine, thence S 2 W 83 poles to a stake thence S 85 W 17 poles to the Main road thence up said road North 50 W 96 poles to the turn then the road N 35 W 90 poles to a stake at Poley Bottom, DICKSON’S corner thence with her line to the beginning containing 106 acres more or less valued at $2250, with his advancement. We also find that Robert D. SLOAN’S children have had advancement sufficient to make them an equal share. All of which is respectfully submitted under our hands & seals, 2nd day of July A.D. 1866. J.
