ESTATE OF KINSEY WHALEY

May 23rd 1868

This is to certify that I have rented to John Edward Smith a plantation in 
Duplin County known as the late residence of Kinsey Whaley Deceased and the 
Dower of his widow on limestone creek during my lifetime of my present wifes 
lifetime for Fifteen Dollars per year and the Said John E. Smith is to give in 
and pay the tax on said land during the above mentioned time and the said John 
Edward Smith is to give me his notes with approved security for fifteen dollars 
payable the first day of January  next and then the 1st day January during the 
above stated time of me or my wifes lifetime.

PS  The conditions of the above is if John Edward Smith fails to comply with the 
above this contract is null and void.
