M, p. 191-193 David SLOAN to William CARR - both of Duplin Co., NC- 105 acres 16 Jan 1801 This Indenture made the 16th day of January in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and One between David SLOAN of the State of N. Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and William CARR of the same thereof the other part and Witnessed he the said David SLOAN for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five pounds current money of The State of N. Carolina to him in hand will and Truly be paid or secured to be paid by the said William CARR the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath by these presents Doth give Grant Bargain Sell assign and set over to William CARR aforesaid all that Tract of land and plantation whereon the said David SLOAN now lives lying and being int he County of Duplin, aforesaid on the West side of the N East River between S Maxwell Creek and Island Creek and on Both sides of the main road and on both sides of Cook’s branch a prong of Island Creek and Bounded as a follows —To wit Beginning at an Oak and Black jack the first corner of a Survey of three hundred acres patented by William ALEN running thence N 20 W 99 poles to a Stake in the patten line John SLOAN’S Corner thence with SLOAN’S line S 85 W 152 poles to a pine his corner thence with the patten line S 20 E 140 poles to a Stake the Corner thence to the Beginning, Containing one hundred and five acres be the Same more or less it being the lower part of a patten Granted to William ALEN and Conveyed by the said William ALEN to Robert DICKSON by a Deed bearing date the 11th Day of September 1784 and Conveyed by the Said Robert DICKSON to John COOK viz a Deed Bearing date the fourth Day of November 1786 and by the sd John to David SLOAN by a deed Bearing Date the fifth Day of September 1789 and now by the Said David SLOAN to the said William CARR & to have and to hold the aforesaid Bargained premises unto him the aforesaid William CARR his heirs Exxr’s administrators and assigns forever with all the appurtenances profits privileges and advantages belonging or in anywise appertaining to the Said Land free and clear from all encumbrances whatsoever and the said David SLOAN his heirs Excr’s, Admr’s. and assigns Doth Covenant and agree to and with the said W William CARR his heirs and assigns forever to warrant and Defend the aforesaid., Bargained premises to him the said William CARR his heirs and assigns from and against him the said David SLOAN his heirs, Exr’s, Administrators and assigns as also from against the Just and Lawful claim and demand of all and Every person or persons whatever.
