GOODMAN, Jr. 16 Aug 1774 To all to Whom these presents shall come Greeting Know Ye that I, William GOODMAN, Senior of Duplin County and province of North Carolina for and in consideration of the love and Good will and Natural affection which I have and do bear unto my Grand son William GOODMAN, son of my son William GOODMAN, Junior, Both of the County and province aforesaid, Have given granted and by these presents do fully truly and absolutely give grant unto my grandson William GOODMAN his Heirs and assigns, One Certain tract or land situate lying and Being in the province of North Carolina and Duplin County on the North side of Goshen Swamp containing One Hundred acres of land as appears by Patent Bearing date February the 23rd, Anno Domini 1754 including the Plantation whereon I the said William GOODMAN, Senior Now dwells and is Bound as ———? Beginning at a Red Oak about twenty poles from the Said Swamp and about half a mile below the fork of said swamp and runs thence North 21 Degrees West 81 poles to a pine thence South 69 degrees West 200 poles to a pine thence South 21 East, 80 poles to the Swamp and thence down the said Swamp to the Beginning Containing in the whole One Hundred acres of Land be it more or less , To have and to hold the aforesaid land to the aforesaid William GOODMAN, my said Grand Son his assigns forever as before mentioned to his only proper use benefit and Behoof forever; Only the Quit Rents due to his Majesty the King and I the said William GOODMAN, Senior for myself my heirs Executors administrators and assigns do Warrant and defend the said land and all appurtenances to the said same Belonging to him the said William GOODMAN my said Grand Son his Heirs and assigns forever against the lawful Claim or Demands of any person or persons Whatsoever according to the true intent and meaning of the presents. In Witness Whereof I the said William GOODMAN, Senior, Have hereunto se try hand and affixed my seal the Sixteenth 16 day of August 1774. One Thousand seven Hundred and Seventy four.
