Abstract of Deed by HRG Book 5, page 399. Hugh Grimes to James Grimes. (his son). Dated: 15 October 1777, and in the Second year of the Independence of the United States of America. Trans: 100 pounds for 620 acres of land in four tracts. First tract consisted of 180 acres. On the North side of Goshen Swamp and on the East side of a branch thereof, known by the name of Hall's Marsh. Land was part of 550 acres granted to Richard Malpos by patent in 1747. Second tract consisted of 100 acres, on the West side of Halls Marsh, Hooker's Marsh and Malures line. Land was part of 550 acres granted to John Sullivan by patent dated 29 April 1767. Third tract consisted of 190 acres on the North side of Goshen Swamp and on the West side of Halls Marsh, joining lines of Joseph Grimes and John Winders. Land was granted to William Pierce by patent, dated 4 May 1769 and conveyed by him to Hugh Grimes. Fourth tract consisted of 150 acres, on the North side of Goshen Swamp and on the West side of Halls Marsh, opposite to his plantation. Deed mentions Richard Malpos, "a meadow", and a small branch. Land was the upper part of 250 acres granted to the said Hugh Grimes by patent dated, 19 April 1763. Witnessed: William Dickson and John Winder.
