Alexander HINES of Duplin Co. to Stephen HINES of Sampson Co., NC- 350 Acres in 
Duplin Co., NC
17 March 1829

This Indenture made his the Seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord One 
Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty Nine between Alexander HINES of the County of 
Duplin & State of N. Carolina of the one part & Stephen HINES of the County of 
Sampson & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Alexander 
HINES in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred dollars to him in hand paid 
or secured to be paid at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents the 
receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & himself therewith to be fully 
satisfied & contented - doth hereby give, grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff, alien, 
convey & confirm unto the said Stephen HINES his heirs & assigns forever, one 
certain piece or parcel of Land, situate, lying & being in the County of Duplin 
& on the East Side of the North-East River including the Plantation whereon 
Alexander HINES now lives. Beginning at a Gum above the Mill & runs thence S 5 W 
22 poles to an Elm & Poplar on the West side of a ditch, thence N 85 E 60 pole 
stop two Sweet Gums, thence S 83 E 28 poles to a Short-leaf pine, thence N 21 E 
60 poles to a Black Gum, N 80 E 64 poles to a pine, thence N 66 E 106 to a pine 
at the road side, thence N 10 W 102 poles to a Stake, thence N 6 W 60 poles to a 
pine, thence S 83 W 269 poles to a Stake. thence S 30 W 90 poles to a bunch of 
pines at the head of a ——— branch, thence down said branch as it meanders to the 
beginning. It containing by estimation Three Hundred & Fifty acres, be the same 
more or less - To have & to hold the ——— Land & premises with all & Singular the 
appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Stephen HINES his heirs & 
Assigns from me my heirs, Exrs. Admrs & Assigns & from & against the Lawful 
Claim or demand of all manner of persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I, the 
said Alexander HINES have hereunto set their hands & seal the day & year first 
above written.
