E p. 237-238 James JONES of Duplin Co. to Lewis HINES of Dobbs Co., NC - 240 acres 22 Sept. 1774 North Carolina Duplin County To all to Whom these presents shall come Greeting, Know ye that I, James JONES of the County and province aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds proclamation money to me in hand paid by Lewis HINES of the County of Dobbs and province aforesaid the Receipt whereof, I do hereby acknowledge myself paid and Contented every part and parcel thereof, Have given granted Bargained sold Conveyed and Confirmed and do by these presents Bargain Sell alien Convey and Confirm unto the said Lewis HINES his heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever A Certain tract or parcel of land Being part of the Tract held by Phillip STONE, Patron; Containing Two Hundred and Forty acres more or less situate lying and Being in the province and County above said, On the North Side of the Cabin Branch, Beginning at a pine on the said Cabin branch, Running with the Patton line North 25 East 180 poles to the Patent Corner a white Oak then with the Patent line again North 65 West 254 poles to the Patron Corner a Black Oak then with the Patron line again 25 West to the said Cabbin Branch then down the said branch as it Runs to the Beginning. To Have and to Hold the above Bargained premises Unto him the said Lewis HINES his heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns forever he the said Lewis HINES his heirs and assigns Early paying his Majesty’s Quitrent for above said four hundred and forty acres at the rate of four shilling proclamation money per hundred with all the privileges perquisites Buildings fences timbers and Commodities to the same Belonging or in any way & appertaining whatsoever unto him the said Lewis HINES, his heirs and assigns forever to him and their proper use benefit and Behoof and I the said, James JONES for myself my Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns Covenant and agree to and with the said Lewis HINES that I am the true sale and lawful owner of this above Bargained premises and that it shall be lawful for him the said Lewis HINES his heirs & Executors administrators or assigns forever hereafter By force and Virtue of these presents To Have Hold Use Occupy Possess and enjoy all an singular the above Bargained premises and that I the said James JONES for me my heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns forever the above granted and Bargained premises I have and will Warrant Secure and forever defend.
