Reference may be had to a deed transferred from William Burnham to his son John Burnham bearing date March 12, 1798. Wives privately examined. Witnesses: J. Jernigan & Jno. Watkins. Registered July Term 1827. Note: Deed Book 48, pg 162 - Indenture made 28 Dec 1832 from Anna Burnham, widow of John Burnham, to Lewis Rouse all of Duplin, for $50 land in Duplin on the north side of Goshen, between Rattlesnake and Blount branches known by the name of the Burnham Land, which was allotted to me by Dowry of my deceased husband, John Burnham, containing 33 1/3 acres.
