Duplin County, NC Register of Deeds, Bk 15-10-14-15, pg 50

Indenture made 1 May 1827 from Wiley & wife Sally Powell and Wilie & wife 
Catherine Warwick of the one part and Lewis Rouse of the other part all of 
Duplin, for $130 land in Duplin it being all the land, 40 acres, that fell to 
the above Sally Powell and Catherine Warwick at the death of John Burnham their 
father, the lands not being divided we cannot ascertain the courses. Reference 
may be had to a deed transferred from William Burnham to his son John Burnham 
bearing date March 12, 1798. Wives privately examined. Witnesses: J. Jernigan & 
Jno. Watkins. Registered July Term 1827.

Note: Deed Book 48, pg 162 - Indenture made 28 Dec 1832 from Anna Burnham, widow 
of John Burnham, to Lewis Rouse all of Duplin, for $50 land in Duplin on the 
north side of Goshen, between Rattlesnake and Blount branches known by the name 
of the Burnham Land, which was allotted to me by Dowry of my deceased husband, 
John Burnham, containing 33 1/3 acres. Witnesses: Thos. Wright & Wm. D. Jones. 
Registered Feb'y Term 1833.
