Land was granted by patent to John Holley 31 March 1750. Deed was signed by William Ball and Isabell Ball. Wit.: Simon West, Benjamin Joyner, and Nathaniel West. [See note 1.] Page 255, Deed: Anthony Cock to Joseph Blackman (of Johnston County), Dated: 3 April 1767, Trans.: 90 pounds for 127 acres. Deed mentions Thomas Thornton, Jacob Odom, Thomas Corner [sic], and Middle Branch. Land was "part of a larger tract...that was granted formerly to the said Anthony Cock Bearing Date" 21 Jun 1746. Wit.: Joseph Rhodes and Js. Blackman Page 257, Deed: William Bell to Thomas Yarborough. Dated: 9 May 1767, Trans.: 12 pounds for 100 acres "On the North side of the Beaver dam branch.: Land was granted to Henry King by patent dated 23 February 1754. Wit.: Joseph Rhodes and Moses Smith Abstracts, Sampson-Duplin Deeds, Books 4-6 [ca. 1762 to ca. 1779] Page 127, Deed: Samson (or Sampson) McLam to Thomas Davis. Dated 9 January 1768. Trans.: 75 pounds for 240 acres on "the East side of great Coheary." Deed mentions Matthew Carter. Land was part of a larger tract granted to Samson McLam by patent dated 22 October 1762. Wit.: Joseph Rhodes, James (?) Edwards, and William Bass. (See notes 10 & 16) Page 131, Deed: Isaac Daniel to James Tucker. Dated: 16 January 1768. Trans: 26 pounds for 200 acres "on the East side of Great Coheary Beginning... On the North side of Kills swamp."
