Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003873 February 15, 2019, 1:59 pm Written: 1849 Register of Deeds Office Duplin County, NC Benjamin Rochelle of Duplin Co., NC to Isaac ROCHELLE of New Hanover Co., NC Bk. 8A, p. 468 8 March 1849 Benjamin ROCHEL to Isaac ROCHEL Deed: 191 Acres Land An Indenture made this eight day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine between Benjamin ROCHELLE of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Isaac ROCHELLE of the State aforesaid and county of New Hanover of the other part witnessed that the said Benjamin ROCHELLE for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to him in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold set over and forever confirmed into the said Isaac ROCHELLE his heirs and assigns, all his right title claim and interest in a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Duplin and State aforesaid lying on the west side of the North East River and South Side of Muddy Creek containing by the Plat, 191, One Hundredn and Ninety one acres the said land takes the improvements where old Bird LANIER, formerly lived and bounds as follows: beginning at a cypress at the mouth of Downeys Branch and runs up said Branch as, meanders about South 55 E 40 poles to a black gum on an old line then along that line S 53 E 66 poles to a pine then N 53 E 84 poles to a small pine and lightwood tree then N 53 W 158 poles to a pine Thomas COLES corner then as his line S 35 W 28 poles to a pine his other corner then N 40 W 68 poles to a pine his other corner then S 50 W 94 poles to a stake then N 60 W 22 poles to a pine then S 35 W 189 poles to a pine then N 53 E 14 poles to a poplar stump and Spanish Oak in Brier Branch then down said Branch or it meanders to the mouth then up the swamp as it meanders to the Beginning, containing by estimation one hundred and ninety one acres be it the same more or less to him the said Isaac ROCHEL his heirs and assigns to have and to hold the above described land and premises with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances, thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and I the said Benjamin ROCHELLE do herby warrant & forever defend the said Land and premises free & clear from he claims of me my heirs, executors administrators or assigns and from and against the lawful or just claims of any person or persons whatever in witness whereof I the said Benjamin ROCHELLE have hereunto set my hand and seal day and date first written.
