George the Second by the Grace of God - Of Great Brittain, France and Ireland, King defender of the Faith, J C. To all to whom these present shall come Greeting Know ye that We for and in consideration of the Rents and duties herein, Reserved have given and granted and by these presents for us Our heirs and —— do give and grant unto Arthur DOBBS, Esquire, a tract of land Containing Six Thousand acres lying and Being in the Precint of New Hanover in our province North Carolina lying on a branch of Black River, Beginning at a Beaverdam thence North 60 West 187 chains to a pine thence North 30 degrees East 251 Chains to a pine thence South 60 East 251 chains to an Ash on a branch at the said River thence down the largest Branch tot he second branch in the fork and S up the the first Station as by the Plott herein unto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said lands Belonging or appertaining one half of all Gold and Silver minds (Excepted). To Hold to Him the said Arthur DOBBS, His heirs and assigns forever as of our manner at East Greenwich inner County of Kent in free and common Socage by Firstly only yielding and paying to us our heirs and survivors? forever the yearly Rents at Four shilling proclamation money for every hundred acres hereby granted to be paid to us our heirs and survivors? on the Second day of February in each year at such places in our said province as our Governor for the time Being By advice and consent of our Council shall think fit to direct and appoint. Provided always that in case the said Arthur DOBBS, His heirs or Assigns shall rent within the space of three years after the date hereof clear and cultivate according to the proportion of three acres for every hundred and also that a Minute or Docket of these our letters Patent shall not be Entered in the Office at our Auditor General for the time Being in our said province within Six months after date Hereof that hem and in either at the said Cases, then our letter Patent shall be Void and of None Effect. In Testimony Whereof, North Carolina Have caused the Great Seal of our said province to be Hereunto annexed. Witness our Trusty and Well Beloved Gabriel JOHNSTON, Esquire, Our Captain General and Governor and Chief at Cape Fear, this Fourteenth day of January in the Ninth year of Our Reign, Anno Domini, One Thousand Seven hundred and Thirty Five, 1735.
