Bk 4A p. 415  WILLIAM HALL SENR. to THOMAS SHEPARD, both of Duplin Co., 11 Feb 
1804. for 261 pds. 5 shill. current money of N. C. 372A in 2 tracts to wit: 
(1) 187A incl. the buildings & planta. whereon sd. SHEPARD lives, lying on BS 
of Pasture Branch, beg. on the NES of the branch on MIDDLETON'S line, joining 
MICHAEL DICKSON, JAMES' line, to the main road in the run of Pasture Branch, 
to the run of a branch at the lower corner of JOHN McCULLOCH'S old field at 
MICHL. DICKSON corner, being part of 300A conveyed by deed from JAMES PEARSALL 
to JAMES JAMES dated 20 Sep 1778; (2) 100A joining the 1st tract, lying on BS 
of the main road, incl. the buildings where sd. SHEPARD now lives, being 1/2 
of a tract of 200A patented by JOHN CULLOCH JR, & by him conveyed to WILLIAM 
HUNTER who conveyed to THOMAS E. JAMES, beg. at a black jack in the 2nd line 
of the patent, a little NW of a branch called Polleath, 26 poles from the 3rd 
corner of the patent, crossing the branch & both main roads & joining 
McCULLOCH'S patent line, ALEXANDER DICKSON'S line & JAMES' old line; (3) 20A 
lying on the head drains of the far prong of Alder Swamp, being part of 100A 
patented by JAMES PEARSALL 10 Nov 1784, beg. at a pine ROBERT DICKSON'S 
corner, joining JOHN McCULLOCK & ROBERT DICKSON; (4) 65A on both the main 
roads, being part of the 200A patented by JOHN McCULLOCH JUNR., being the 
same 65A as laid off by CHARLES HOOKS, Esqr. to THOMAS E. JAMES, being part of 
100A sold by HUGH McCANNE, Shff. & c.
