E p. 232-234 Robert SLOAN to Joseph WILSON of Duplin County, NC 9 Oct. 1789 Robert SLOAN to Joseph WILSON Deed 40 Acres This Indenture made the 9th Day of October one thousand seven hundred and Eight Nine between Robert SLONE in the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Joseph WILSON of the same place of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Robert SLOAN for Diverse Good Causes and Consideration him thereunto moving But more especially for the Valuable sum of five shillings Current Money to him in hand well and Truly paid by the said Joseph WILSON the Receipt of the same he The sd. Robert SLOAN Doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully satisfied Contented and paid of Every part thereof Doth hereby Acquit and forever Defend Discharge the said Joseph WILSON by having and assigns forever and hath by these presents Given Granted Bargain and Sold and forever Confirm to the said Joseph WILSON one Tract or Parcel of Land situate Lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the Southward side of Maxwell Swamp and on the Indian Grave Branch Beginning at a Black Gum the fourth Corner of a Survey of One Hundred and sixty Acre Patented by Robert DICKSON, Paten bearing date the 26th Day of October thence with the Patent line No. 58 East 60 poles to a pine thence Down a dividing line Between Joseph WILSON and Robert SLOAN, South 32 East 99 poles to a Stake thence South 58 West 60 poles to a Stake on the Patent line thence with the Paten line N 30 West to the Beginning one Containing forty acres by Estimation be the same more or less it being a part of the above said Patented land bearing as above and afterwardly by Deed from Robert DICKSON to Andrew WALLACE bearing date January the first 1778 and afterwards Conveyed Eighty Acres of said land by Deed from Andrew WALLACE to Robert SLOAN, Deed bearing date the Seventeenth Day of January 1780 the Forty acres being a Part of the said Eighty Acres as above mentioned Courses above be the same more or less. To have and to Hold the above Bargained Land and premises to him the said Joseph WILSON his heirs and assigns for & to their only proper use benefit and behoof and the said Robert SLOAN doth Covenant and agree to warrant & forever Defend the said forty acres of land to him the said Joseph WILSON by heirs and Assigns from and against the said Robert LSOAN his Heirs and Assigns the Right and Lands in full Claim or Claims of any other person or persons whatsoever who may hereafter —— Lawful Claim or Claims to the same and he the said Joseph WILSON on the above Bargained Land and premises shall and may have. Hold us occupy and Enjoy and possess as his own free and Lawful Inheritance free from all former Gifts Grants Judgements Intail Dower Right of Dowers or any other Incumbrance whatsoever Except the Taxes now Due hereafter may become Due on said Land only Excepted for praised IN Witness whereof the said Robert SLOAN hath set his hand and fixed his seal the Day and Year first above Written.
