BRYAN-Deed 226 Acres This Indenture made this Thirteenth day of March in the yea row our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and eighteen Between Gibson SLOAN of the county of Duplin And State of North Carolina for the one part and John Caulwell BRYAN of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that & In consideration of the Sum of One Hundred dollars in hand paid before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and confirmed the Said John C. BRYAN a certain tract of piece of land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin between the waters of Rockfish and Island Creek. Bounded as follows beginning at a pine Jacob WELLS old Corner in the Deep Meadow Pond, thence S 15 W? 140 poles to a pine in WELLS old line, thence S 71 E 160 poles to a Stake, thence N 62 E 220 poles to a pine on a Ridge near Manuel BOWZER’S line thence N 75 W 320 poles to the beginning contain gin by estimation Two Hundred & Sixteen acres be the same more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid lands & premises & all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, unto he said John C. BRYAN his heirs & assigns forever. I do warrant & defend the said land & premises from me my heirs Exr’s & assigns, & from the lawful claim of any person or persons unto him the said John C. BRYAN his heirs, ex’s & assigns forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the day & date above written.
