David SLOAN to Bryant CAVENAUGH both of Duplin Co., NC - 191 acres
3 April 1835

This Indenture made his third day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand 
eight hundred & thirty five Between David SLOAN of the County of Duplin & State 
of North Carolina of the one part & Bryant CAVANAUGH of the above named County & 
State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said David SLOAN doth for an in 
consideration of the Sum of three hundred Dollars the receipt whereof the said 
David hereby acknowledged Bargained Sell defend and confirm and by these 
presents doth give grant transfer & convey unto he said Bryant CAVENAUGH a 
certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County & State above 
mentioned one the North side of the North East River & East side of Island Creek 
beginning at a pine Winebreck BONEY’S & COSTIN’S corner thence N 68 — W 52 poles 
to a pine thence N 180 poles to a stake then on N 2? 86 E 100 poles to a pine 
thence S 15 W 190 to a pine thence S 7 poles to a red oak thence a N 73 E 88 
poles to a Lightwood tree thence N 87 E 65 poles to a — on BAILEY’S & 
CAVENAUGH’S line thence with their Line to ————— being South 30 E 100 poles 
thence Down the ———— River to the mouth of Old Island Creek. The creek to where 
Empties in to Island Creek? thence the various courses of the creek on the run 
of Creek thence to the beginning containing One Hundred and Ninety ——— be the 
same more or less to him the said Bryant to have and to hold to Enjoy —— possess 
all and singular the above mentioned lands forever and the said David SLOAN for 
himself his heirs Exr’s. Administrators and assigns to warrant and defend the 
right Title claim & possession —— the said Bryant his heirs and assigns Forever 
against the Claim or Title of any — all persons what soever in testimony whereof 
the said David SLOAN doth however to set his hand and affix his seal this the 
day & date above before written.
