Gibson SLOAN to Benjamin HORN-100 acres

This Indenture made this 31st of Nov. in the year of our Lord One thousand eight 
hundred & forty one between Gibson SLOAN of the State of North Carolina & County 
of Duplin of the one part & Benjamin HORN of the County of Onslow & same State 
of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Gibson SLOAN for & in consideration 
of the sum of one hundred & fifteen dollars to him in hand paid the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged that said Gibson SLOAN hath given granted 
bargained & sold set on & forever confirmed unto the said Benjamin HORN his 
heirs & assigns one certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County 
of Duplin adjoining of Onslow line on the S side of Cypress Creek, joining & 
between Abe JAMES line & the County line beginning at a line in JAMES’S line 
standing by the side of SARRY’S branch & runs N 88 E 127 poles to a stake in 
Onslow County line thence with the said line N 111 poles to a stake in the Swamp 
thence W 118 poles to a stake thence S 160 poles to the beginning containing one 
hundred acres to have the said Benjamin HORN his heirs & assigns to have & to 
hold the above described land & premises with the rights & appurtenances 
thereunto belonging or an anywise appertaining & I the said Gibson SLOAN do 
hereby warrant & forever defend the said land & premises free & clear from any 
grant the lawful or just claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In 
witness whereof I the said Gibson SLOAN have hereunto set my hand & affixed my 
seal, day & date first above written.

That execution of the within deed is duly proved in Open Court by the Oaths of 
Benj. LANIER one of the subscribing witnesses thereto & is ordered to be 
registered.
