Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of Thirty Six dollars in hand paid to the said Ephraim STIRCKLIN & wife Tabitha STRICKEN by the said Gibson SLOAN before the sealing & delivering of these presents the recipe whereof is hereby acknowledged. The said Ephraim STICKLIN & his wife Tabitha have bargained, sold & delivered by these presents doth bargain, sell, deliver settler, confirm & forever convey unto the said Gibson SLOAN a certain tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Duplin & on the Southside of the main road & the Horseshoe & on the West side of Maxwell Swamp being a part of a piece of Land deeded to Tabitha STRICKLIN by David CARLTON, Beginning on a branch of Bays in Buck Branch where formerly stood a Poplar, Jacob BEVERIT’S Corner, running up said Buck Branch as it meanders near by N 4 E 41 poles to a Black Gum on the run of said branch thence N 74 W 197 poles to a black gum near the edge of the Main road, therein with the road S 58 W 24 poles to a Stake near the Corner of the - run, thence with the Main road, S 37 W 55 poles to as small Red Oak between the road to a —— hole on the side of the road & on a line in the deed given by David CARLTON & runs thence with that line S 50 E 120 poles to two pines thence N 85 E 87 poles to a pine thence N 50 E 65 poles to the beginning-containing by estimation One Hundred & Twenty one acres be the same more or less. To have & to hold the aforesaid lands & premises together with all the appurtenances the sum to belonging to him the said Gibson SLOAN, His heirs & Admr’s, exr’s & assigns forever. And the said Ephraim STRICKLIN & wife Tabitha STRICKEN doth hereby warrant & forever defend the above lands & premises, free from them their heirs, Admr’s, ex’s, & assigns & from the lawful claim any person or persons & from any encumbrances whatsoever unto him the said Gibson SLOAN his heirs & assigns forever to his own proper use & behoof in fee simple. In witness whereof the said Ephraim STRICKLIN & his wife Tabitha STRICKLIN hath hereunto set their names & affixed their seals the day & date first above written.
