H. WALLACE to W. H. SLOAN, both of Duplin Co., NC 28 March 1876 This Indenture made & executed this the 28th day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and Seventy six between D. H. WALLACE of the State of North Carolina, County of Duplin of the first part & W. H. SLOAN of the second part, same State & County. Witnesseth that I the said D. H. WALLACE of the first part hath for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said W. H. SLOAN of the 2nd part, the receipt whereof is hereby duly acknowledged, hath bargained, sold, conveyed, aligned, released & confirmed & by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, convey, align & confirm unto the said W. H. SLOAN of the second part, his heirs, executors, admr’s & assigned forever a certain tract or parcel of land, situated, lying & being in the County of Duplin, State of North Carolina on the East side of the North East and South side of Muddy Creek. Bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a pine Allen THIGPEN’S & W. D. PICKETT’S corner runs thence N 37 E 75 poles to the road, thence with the road about N 70 W 53 poles thence along the road S 78 W about 23 poles to W. H. SLOAN’S & Susan OGLESBY’S corner, thence to the beginning containing by estimation fifteen and one half acres of land be the same more or less, always excepting one half acre deeded to the use of Chinquapin Church by B. W. BURTON as shown by deed to Mess’r. PARKER, BRADHAM & CAVENAUGH, Building Committee. I also convey one acre of land where Store now stands, which in in the boundaries of the courses given in first deed. I also except Lot no. #9 which has been sold and deeded to David BROCK, fronting on road Gofeet?, for courses refer to deed. To have and to hold the aforesaid lands & premises with all the appurtenances thereunto-belonging of whatsoever name or nature to the said W. H. SLOAN his heirs, Executors, Administrators and assigns forever free from myself any heirs, Executors, Administrators & Assigns. I the said D. H. WALLACE do warrant and defend the title to the above described premises to the said W. H. SLOAN his heirs & assigns forever from myself my heirs, Executors & assigns, from the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons whatever unto the said W. H. SLOAN his heirs & assigns. In testimony whereof, I the said D. H. WALLACE hath hereunto set my hand & seal day and date above written. D. H. WALLACE (Seal) Signed, sealed & del’ in the presence of Liston S. MALLARD.
