Duplin County, NC - William Grimes Papers ¤¤¤¤¤¤ 1014 Magnolia Street Fort Worth, Texas June 19, 1902 I write to you In the hope of gaining some Information regarding the family of my grandfather, Jesse Grimes. I believe In keeping family records, and find that of my Grimes ancestry is very meager, as my grandfather, Jesse Grimes talked to his children but little of his early life and people. My mother was Nancy Grimes (married Charles Eblnger and lived at Navasota, Texas, where she died in 1898). And of all of Jesse Grimes children, my aunt, Mrs. Emily Gannaway alone, is alive. She told me to write to Joe, William or Mary Grimes for information about the Grimes family as she says my great uncle William was well Informed about it and talked a great deal of such things. I only know that grandfather had two brothers, William and James, and two sisters, Esther and Nancy, and that my great-grandfather was named Sampson Grimes and lived in Wake County, near Raleigh, N. C. Was he in the Revolutionary War, and can you give me any further family history? I shall be glad to hear from any of you, and will greatly appreciate any Information you may give. Truly yours, (Mrs.) Anna E. Preston Postmaster, Elysian Fields Dear Sir: If William or Joe Grimes, Mrs. Mary Everitt, or any of their descendents live at Elysian Fields now, please give the enclosed letter to one of them. They are relations of whom I have lost trace and wish to communicate with. Respectfully, Mrs. Anna E. Preston 1014 Magnolia Street Fort Worth, Texas June 19, 1902 Mrs. W. C. (Anna E.)
