Duplin County, NC - John Boykin Revolutionary War Pension, 1833 ~~~~~~~~~~ June 21, 1932 Mrs. M.T. Norris N. Blount Street Raleigh, North Carolina Dear Madam: Reference is made to your letter in which you request information in regard to John Boykin, a soldier of the Revoltionary War. The data furnished herein were obtained from the papers on file in pension claim S.6551 based upon the Revolutionary War service of John Boykin. He was born in 1764 on Great Coharie, Duplin County (which was later Sampson County), North Carolina. While residing there he enlisted in 1779 and served three months in Captain Lanier's Company in Colonel Jonas Johnson's North Carolina Regiment and was in the battle of Stone. He was in the battle of Rockfish, service one month, no dates or officers given. He enlisted, no date stated, and served three months in Captain David Dodd's Company of horse, and was in engagements on Little Coharie and in Bladen County. He was allowed pension on his application executed November 19, 1832 then living in Samson County, North Carolina on the plantation where he had always lived. In 1854 his daughters were referred to as his heirs. Their names were not given and there are no further data as to family. Very truly your, A.D.
