Green, Cols. Rhodes and Armstrong, and Capt. Ivy. No date given for his birth. His wife, Mourning, (b. about 1761) made (written) affadavit on July 13, 1846 before court that her husband served while they were residents of Duplin County. William died in Scriven County, Ga. on 18 Oct. 1835. His son, Harvy Sheppard, then 45, of Scriven County, Ga. made application and was awarded as survivor. Others who appeared on William Sheppard's behalf as testament to his veracity were Roderick Boykin, John B. Boykin Sr., J.C.A. Mock, Stephen Pearce, W. Brigdon, Granville Bevill, J. W. Hunter, James Lee, Isaac Lanier and David Lee. Clergyman Moses N. Mall also testified as to the day and date of William Sheppard's death.
