Dec. 2, 1802 Wilmington Gazette December 2, 1802 NORTH CAROLINA Duplin County Taken up and committed to jail in this county, a Negro man named ROGER, about 40 or 45 years old. He was some time ago carried to the state of South Carolina, by a MR. JOHN HUNTER of the county aforesaid. ROGER confesses that he made his escape from South Carolina and returned to this state; and says he does not know his right owner, as he master died a few days before he came way. The person to whom he belongs is therefore requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away.
