ROSE HILL - Mr. David Eugene Rouse, age 77, of 1174 Pasture Branch Road, Rose Hill, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 8 at 3 p.m. from Island Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Ronald Ginn, Rev. Reece Riggins and Rev. Millard Bounds. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Drew Rouse of the home; 3 daughters, Mrs. Cathy Blizzard and husband, Samuel, of Beulaville, Ms. Bonnie Rouse of Mooresville and Mrs. Iris Clover and husband, Michael, of Fayetteville; 1 son, Rufus Eugene Rouse and wife, Vickie, of Beulaville; 2 granddaughters, Kelly Rouse and Sarah Clover; 5 grandsons, Ashley Blizzard and wife, Melissa, David Blizzard, Brandon Blizzard, Matthew Davis and wife, Jennifer, and Charles Clover; 4 great-granddaughters, Alecia Blizzard, Paxton Blizzard, Alexandria Blizzard and Madison Davis. Mr. Rouse was preceded in death by 3 half-sisters, Olivia Bradshaw, Elma Drew and Alma Highsmith. A native of Duplin County, Mr. Rouse was the son of the late Rufus and Nancy Brown Rouse. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired farmer and owner of Rouse Sand Company. Mr. Rouse was an avid hunter. He was an active member of brotherhood and a deacon of Island Creek Baptist Church. Casketbearers will be Ashley Blizzard, David Blizzard, Matthew Davis, Brandon Blizzard, Charles Clover and Chris Drew. Honorary bearers will be the deacons of Island Creek Baptist Church. The family suggest those so desiring may make memorials to the Duplin Home Health Care and Hospice, PO Box 887, Kenansville, NC 28349. The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and will be at their residence, 1174 Pasture Branch Road, Rose Hill, other times. A Padgett Service.
