Sloan Sr. Dies at Home In City Stedman S. Sloan, Sr., for many years operator of Sloan & Company, jewelers, when the firm was in the Broad Grace Arcade, died yesterday, at his residence, 1329 Amhert Avenue and Masonic funeral services will be held this afternoon from 3316 Grove Avenue, with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Surviving Mr. Sloan are his widow, Mrs. Minerva Adams Sloan; two sons, Stedman S. Sloan Jr., and William J. Sloan; four brothers, Dr. C. S. Sloan, A. R., Binford and L. J. Sloan of Wallace, N. C. and one sister, Mrs. C.E. Hussey, also of Wallace, N. C. Note: Stedman Scales Sloan was born in Chinquapin, Duplin County, the son of William Herring Sloan and Martha Gillespie Sheffield of Duplin County. Dr. C. S. (Carl Schurz) Sloan was a dentist and is buried at Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace. A. R. was Astor Rothschild Sloan. A. R. married Laura Poitivent Alderman. They are buried at Rockfish. L. J. was Lawrence Josephus Sloan. L. J. died in Raleigh. Mrs. C. E. Hussey was Alice Wilder Sloan, spouse of Charles Edward Hussey.
