Dickson SLOAN to Daniel C. MOORE both of Duplin Co., NC
30 August 1842

State of North Carolina
Duplin County

Know all men by these presents that I, Dickson SLOAN of the State & county above 
mentioned of the one part & Daniel C. MOORE of the County & State above 
mentioned of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said Dickson SLOAN for & in 
consideration of the sum of Seven hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said 
Daniel C. MOORE the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged myself satisfied & 
content hath bargained & sold & by these presents doth bargain & sell unto the 
said D. C. MOORE, a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County 
of Duplin in the waters of Maxwell Swamp all that land willed to me the said 
Dickson SLOAN by my father, David SLOAN adjoining  the lands of Gibson SLOAN or 
the heirs of Gibson SLOAN, Timothy NEWKIRK, James CHAMBERS and Thos. SHEFFIELD 
lands heath & other, it being my part of my father's land it being one half of 
one thousand acre tract, it being my undivided half of my father David SLOAN'S 
land and I the said Dickson SLOAN for myself my heirs executors, administrators 
& assigns do further warrant & defend the right & title  of any half of the 
above described lands unto the said Daniel C. MOORE himself his heirs, Execr's, 
Admrs & assigns to be free & clear of all manner of encumbrances whatsoever. In 
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 30th of August in the 
year of Our Lord 1842  in the 66 & 67 yr. of American Independence of the United 
States of America.

The execution of the within deed is duly proved in Open Court but he Oath of 
Nicholas P. MATHIS one of the subscribing witnesses thereto & is ordered to be 
registered.
