Y. June 11 1865 Brother I write you a few lines this morning which leaves me in silence but good health (B)ut I am compelled to announce to you the death of my poor Brother [R. A. Blackmore} (H)e was taken Sick with the cronic diarrhaea the 9 of March & was confined to bed until June 3rd (A)bout 4 Oclock PM he departed this life poor fellow Suffered a great deal but I am in hopes that his Sufferment was in this wourld (M)other I have wrote you a good many letters but I Suppose you have not recd any of them (I) have recd all of yours (I)t only takes about 5 days for a letter to come to me (W)hen you write me I (cant) why you do not get my letters (A)ll the letters you write even the one that you wrote to Col Moore [Lt. Col Stephen Moore, superintendent of Elmira Prison, New York.
