Jesse WILLIAMS to Marshal SLOAN of Duplin Co., NC
15 February 1847

This Indenture made the 15th day of February in the year of our Lord 1847, 
between Jesse WILLIAMS of the State of North Carolina & County of Duplin of the 
one part & Marshal SLOAN of the same State & County of the other part. 
Witnesseth that, I the said Jesse WILLIAMS for & in consideration of the sum of 
one hundred & forty dollars to me in hand paid by Marshal SLOAN for & in 
consideration of a certain Tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County 
of Duplin bounded as follows: on the East side of the North East River & on 
Muddy Creek, beginning at a Cypress on the run of Muddy Creek above the Sandy 
ford & runs N 30 E 10 poles to the edge of the high ground thence down the Swamp 
& high ground as it meanders about 56 poles to an Ash near a forked Maple the 
(illegible) corner then S 20 W 180 poles to a small pine then S 76 E 60 poles to 
a pine then N 40 E 37 poles to two Gums in a drain then down the drain as it 
meanders to the branch then down the meanders of the branch to the beginning 
containing by estimation 72 acres be the same more or less all the above parcel 
of land the said Jesse WILLIAMS do warrant & defend the right unto the said 
Marshal SLOAN to him his heirs & assigns free & clear from the just & lawful 
claim of all person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said Jesse 
WILLIAMS doth hereunto set his hand & seal the day & date first above written.
