Jesse WILLIAMS, Sr. to Gibson SLOAN both of Duplin Co., NC - 54 Acres
23rd Feb 1856

State of North Carolina
Duplin County

This Indenture made the 23rd day of February A.D. one thousand eight hundred & 
fifty six. Between Jesse WILLIAMS. Sr. of the County and State aforesaid on the 
one part and Gibson SLOAN of the same County and State aforesaid of the other 
part. Witnesseth that I, Jesse WILLIAMS, Sr. do for and in consideration of the 
sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Gibson SLOAN the 
receipt whereof is hereby freely acknowledged, do bargain, sell, settler and 
deliver align and convey unto the said Gibson SLOAN a certain Lot or tract of 
land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid adding the lands of John 
FOUNTAIN and others. Known by the name of Treckemm?, beginning at a Stake on the 
road & runs thence S 20 W 25 poles to a pine then North 67 West 43 poles to a 
pine thence North 20 1/2 E 25 poles to a Stake on the road thence with the road 
to the Beginning containing by estimation five and fourth acres be the same more 
or less. To have and to hold the above described piece or lot of lands together 
with al land singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise 
appertaining to him the said Gibson SLOAN, his heirs & he the said Jesse 
WILLIAMS, doth warrant and forever defend the right and title hereby conveyed to 
the said Gibson SLOAN his heirs & forever to be free from him his heirs and 
assigns and from the just and lawful claim of any and all other persons, 
Whatsoever. In Testimony whereof he the said Jesse WILLIAMS doth hereunto set 
his hand and Seal the day and date first above Written.
