Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00022.html#0005225 March 16, 2022, 7:00 pm Source: ROD Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/duplin/photos/documents/marshall1430nph.jpg Image file size: 160.2 Kb Transcribed by Sloan Mason slomas7@comcast.net Register of Deeds Duplin County, NC Bk. 21, p. 252 Marshall SLOAN to Gibson SLOAN of Duplin Co., NC 3 Feb. 1850 Marshal SLOAN to Gibson SLOAN This Indenture made on the the third day of February A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty between Marshal SLOAN of the one part of the county of Duplin and State of North Carolina and Gibson SLOAN of the other part witnesseth that the said Marshal SLOAN for an din consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Gibson SLOAN at the time of the executing these presents the recipe whereof I hereby acknowledged hath bargained granted sold conveyed albeit? & confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell convey alien & confirm unto the said Gibson SLOAN his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in the County of Duplin and State aforesaid situate on the waters of Muddy Creek and on the E side of the N E River adjoining the lands of Rily DAVIS and others bounded as follows, viz: beginning at a Cypress on the run of Muddy Creek above the sandy — and runs N 30 E 10 poles to the edge of the high ground then down the swamp & high as it meanders about 56 poles to a oak near a forked maple the old corner then S 20 W 180 poles to a small pine then S 76 E 60 poles to a pine then N 48 E 39 poles to two gums in a drain then down the drain as it meanders to the branch thence down the meanders of the branch to the beginning containing by estimation seventy two acres, be the same more or less all the above piece of land, I the said Marshel SLOAN do warrant and defend the right unto the said Gibson SLOAN to him his heirs and assigns free and clear from the past and before claims of all persons whatsoever in testimony whereof the said Marshal SLOAN doth hereunto set his hand and affix his seal the day and date first above written, signed sealed and delivered in presence of Viz: Baz COLE George PEARCE Signed: Marshal SLOAN (Seal) State of North Carolina, Duplin County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions October Term 1853, There was the within deed proved in Open Court by Baz COLE a subscribing witness and ordered to be registered.
